VanillaThunder's Caption Contest: The Results!

Well, it's been two weeks and the results are in! But before we get to the winner of the contest, I just want to thank everyone who submitted and everyone who voted or showed the entries love. (And if you haven't, be sure to go do it now that the contest has ended. I know from experience that comments are always appreciated.) I was very impressed with both turnouts and it definitely gives me high hopes for if I ever try this again. So now, without further ado, here is the winner, drumroll please.

*drumroll*

The winner is... CharlseyBallerina with their caption, "Promises She Can't Keep Continued"!

Honestly, it was neck in neck near the end with the one in second place, but this is the one that came out on top and deservedly so. While all the original captions are near and dear to my heart, since it's my heart that created them, I found this continuation to be absolutely delightful and in-keeping with the spirit of my original. (In fact, every entry I think kept the spirit of the original caption, even if it wasn't quite how I'd have done the sequel) And so, congratulations CharlseyBallerina, you're the first ever winner of my first ever caption contest.

And to everyone else, thank you so much for entering, and know that even if you didn't win, not only did I absolutely love every entry, but the voting was very close and there were a few ties in the non-winners in terms of votes.

For a few entries, I know they were seasoned veterans of the cap game, but for those that this was your first experience making captions, I was wholly impressed! Having gone through some of my earlier captions recently, I know my early ones look rough but I didn't see any of that in this contest!

So again, a big thank you to everyone for entering and for voting and congratulations to the winner! I don't know when I'll do something like this again, but I thought it was pretty fun so we'll see!

Joining the Team

Inspired by another of CourtneyCaptisa's prompts, this one about a guy wanting to join a sports team, except they only have a girl's team.

Down to the Wire (Plus Bonus: A Look Into My Process)

This caption is actually one that I started almost a year ago back when I first started making caps, but took me until now to finish. (And the contest voting is still running until Monday night, so get your last minute votes in!)

So, after I did Temporary Daughter last year and I decided to keep making caps, you may have noticed that my process changed a little bit in terms of presentation. The white outline, doing caps both horizontally and vertically, and just general polish, which comes down to my learning how to do it and figuring out the formula that worked for me, which is why I did so many tribute caps, since it was all learning experiences, but for my first few caps, I did things differently.

Now I resize the canvas to add space to the right, but back then, I'd crop the picture very thin and use the rest of the available space, perhaps adding some extra space to the side, which creates something like this:

And it's missing the thicker outline around the text! In addition, I tried to write the cap solely in the photo editor, which made it hard to come back to, since you can't edit text in my editor after you place it. As you can see, the story is similar, but I've definitely come a long way.

Prom Dresses: Not Just For Girls Anymore?

Not quite my usual type of caption, but Courtney Captisa posted looking for captions about prom dresses being marketed to boys and well, it kind of took on a life of its own.

(Don't forget to vote on your favorite entries in the poll!)

A More Fitting Punishment

Slightly inspired by an old Saved by the Bell episode, although I think Zack Morris actually had slightly more altruistic reasons to do it. (Although still self-serving, since it’s still a ‘90s sitcom)

And don't forget to check out the poll to decide who wins the contest!

A Picture’s Worth A Thousand Words

Sorry that this one's a tad small, the source photo was so small that resizing it made it blurry, so I made do.

(And don't forget to vote for your favorite entries in my first ever caption contest!)

Psych Final Project

This started out as a regular "panty raid" caption, but I felt it needed a little something extra, hence the hypnosis angle.

(And don't forget to vote for your favorite entries in my caption contest!)

VanillaThunder's TG Caption Contest: The Poll

My first ever caption contest is nearly finished! The entries are in, and now it's time for you to pick the winner! I got way more responses than I had ever envisioned, especially for my first contest and I'm so glad to see all the wonderful creative energy that was used to come up these. (Plus it lets me know which of my caps are resonating with y'all) The voting period will run for two weeks and end on March 29th, after which we'll see who won! I'm doing it using this poll-maker because DA won't let me add other people's photos to the poll there and Google Forms flagged the poll as "inappropriate" so I had to use other means, but I wanted it to be inclusive to those not on DeviantArt.

If there's a tie in the end, I'll break it, but otherwise, the winner is up to you! You can vote for as many as you like, but only one can win, may the best captioneer win! (As a reminder the prize is, apart from the satisfaction of winning, I will fulfill any caption request from the winner, within reason. Yes, even if they want a sequel!)

Love is Blind

This is, much like many of my captions, an idea I had for a longer story that I couldn't quite work out, and well, it just so happened that I knew of a source to find a photo that perfectly fit the story.

Also, today is the final day to enter the contest!

REMINDER: TG CAPTION CONTEST

Just wanted to remind everyone that there's a little over a week left in the contest, which ends in 11 days on the 14th! Thus far I've only seen a few entries, but there's still time! All the info is in the original post:

https://vanillathunderstgcaps.blogspot.com/2021/02/vanillathunders-tg-caps-contest.html

(Alternatively, if you don't want/have a DeviantArt, you can post the caption on your own blog and just comment the link into the original post if it's easier)
