Other than making Marley a pair of brothers, and not showing Scrooge's sister, the Muppets did a great job of making a fairly complete version of A Christmas Carol. They certainly used a surprising amount of actual verbiage as well.
I know this because I've seen a number of "Youtube Reactors" that say they know about A Christmas Carol before they watch the Muppets version, but they mostly are aware of the pop culture references of the story. It's sort of the same with "It's a Wonderful Life" which I'm not really a fan of the actual movie, but enjoy all the different riffs on it's premise.
